ACTIVITIES IN THE AREA:

This very luxurious place with its perfect location in the middle of the triangle Hilo-Volcano-Puna opens up a multitude of possibilities for adventure. A ten minute drive to the south brings you to the Volcano National Park with its numerous sites and hiking options.

The Volcano National Park is the home of two of the world's most active volcanoes, Kilauea and Mauna Loa. With its 56,000 feet measured from its base on the sea floor, the Mauna Loa is more than 27,000 feet higher than the Mount Everest. Both volcanoes erupt fluid lava, sometimes accompanied with fountains of fire, and are daily adding land to the Big Island. All throughout the Park there are scenic stops and short walks that highlight the many steam vents that come out of the earth.

The Park provides information for visitors in the Kilauea Visitor Center about the volcanoes and the unique flora and fauna of the lava flooded land. Here you will also find all information about the Crater Rim Drive that passes Kilauea's craters and the Chain of Craters Road that eventually ends where the lavaflow has gone across the road. For those who prefer to discover the Park by foot, the Visitor Center provides maps and information about the more than 150 miles of trails.
